Last Night at the Restaurant…
The crowd was 48 strong and it moved up to 51 when some friends arrived for dessert:) Mendy and Picasso were great with two acoustic guitars and mellow harmonising voices. They were well received and they were also very grateful to be able to perform. Marilda wowed the crowd with her bubbly personality and when I sang, she joined me in three songs with harmony which was so cool.
The wines, the food (notwithstanding the momentary disaster when the oven ceased to work midway through the last lasagne – whoopee for the next door oven – crisis averted) and the cheerful ambience…in fact, the whole evening was delicious.
The staff were awesome this morning and returned everything to just about pristine. All the dishes, cutlery and glasses washed and put away and all laundry collected. All the borrowed tables and chairs from the house were put back and scatter cushions arranged neatly. I was most impressed. I wonder if they will miss the restaurant life as we return to basic home-living with an artist? But life is never boring for me so I am sure we will adapt to our new lifestyle with great aplomb!
It is a slow day today – the day after a great party.

I can’t wait to visit you! The warm weather and lazy days in the lapa are in such contrast to our cool days and long nights here in Scotland! Yesterday I attended a workshop on confidentiality and listening with an LGBT organization and walked back to Waverly train station in the pitch dark at 6p.m. and I thanked my little fingers that had knitted a warm scarf the week before, and the leg warmers, as the nights are certainly getting cooler. We went to Waggamammas for supper last night and just missed the crowds as they streamed away from a function of lighting the Christmas lights at the local shopping center! We discovered a new South African wine from Cherry Hill…the sauvignon blanc, really lovely and light. It is Armistices day here and the whole week end has been taken up with military celebrations, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth was at the Royal Albert Hall last night where dear old Cliff Richard sang as did some other great singers….the pomp and ceremony is so English, but the military music reminded me of many of the men in our family! Past most of them now…aaahh and life does move forward. I too am looking forward to a new phase in my life, becoming more entrenched in my community here in Scotland, completing my Masters degree this year and enjoying my life in the North! See you soon Sis! Love ja xx
